KinetBrief — Privacy Policy
Recording, transcription, and summaries — all on your iPhone by default. Nothing leaves your device unless you actively enable the optional cloud AI.
In one line: KinetBrief processes everything on-device by default; the developer operates no servers and never touches or reads your content.
If you opt into the optional cloud AI (with your own API key), the text of your summaries and briefs is sent directly from your device to the third-party AI provider of your choice (see below). Audio and transcription always stay on-device.
What data we handle
- Meeting recordings & transcripts: captured by your microphone and stored only in the app's sandbox on your device, encrypted with
FileProtection.complete (unreadable while the device is locked).
- AI summaries & the morning brief: generated on-device by Apple Speech and Apple Foundation Models by default. If you enable the optional cloud AI, the text of your summaries and briefs is sent to your chosen provider (see "Optional cloud AI"); audio and transcription always stay on-device.
Where the data goes (default)
In the default (on-device) mode, recordings, transcripts, and summaries never leave your iPhone:
- ❌ Audio and transcription always happen on-device and are never uploaded (this holds even if you later enable cloud AI).
- ❌ No analytics, crash-reporting, or advertising SDKs.
- ❌ No accounts and no cross-device sync of any kind.
- ❌ The developer never sells or shares data — the developer's servers structurally cannot access your content.
Optional cloud AI (important — please read)
On top of the default on-device inference, you can choose in "Settings ▸ AI Engine" to have your summaries and morning brief generated by a third-party cloud LLM, such as DeepSeek, Tongyi Qianwen (DashScope), Zhipu (including the Zhipu-hosted Anthropic-compatible endpoint), Moonshot, or Doubao. When you enable this:
- 📤 Only the text of your "summary / morning brief" is sent directly from your device to the provider you chose; audio and transcripts are not sent.
- 🔑 The API key used for calls lives only in your device's Keychain — it never leaves the device and is never sent to the developer.
- 🚫 The developer operates no relay server and does not receive, store, or read any content sent to the provider — it is a direct connection between your device and the provider.
- ✅ This is entirely optional and requires your explicit consent before first use; if you don't enable it, everything stays on-device, identical to the default mode.
- 📋 Once enabled, any further handling of that text is governed by the privacy policy of the provider you chose — please review that provider's policy too.
Whether or not cloud AI is enabled, this app contains no advertising, user-analytics, or crash-reporting SDKs, and creates no account.
Purchases
KinetBrief offers optional in-app purchases (Pro). Billing is handled entirely by Apple's StoreKit; the developer receives only a standard App Store transaction receipt and never sees, stores, or processes your payment details.
Apple Reminders integration (optional)
With your permission, KinetBrief can write the to-dos from your brief into the system Reminders app via Apple's standard EventKit APIs. Only the to-do text and due date are shared — never the recording or transcript. You can revoke this at any time in Settings ▸ Privacy ▸ Reminders.
App Store "App Privacy" disclosure
KinetBrief is not used for tracking (No Tracking), and the developer itself collects no data. When a user enables the optional cloud AI, summary/brief text is sent to a third-party provider of the user's choice; this is disclosed in the App Store "App Privacy" questionnaire as "Data Linked to You ▸ Other User Content ▸ App Functionality (AI)."
Children
KinetBrief is intended for adult professionals. It is age-rated 4+, does not target children, and collects no data from children.
Your rights / deletion
Your data stays with you. Settings let you auto-delete recordings (default 30 days) or delete any recording at any time — deletion removes it permanently from your device.
